The Far South’s coastlines and waterways are a fantastic place for kayaking and canoeing. Surfing
The Far South can get really big breaks. And the beaches are never crowded! There are a couple of world class surf spots. South Cape Bay (accessible from Cockle Creek) is one of them. Surfers carry their boards on the 7 kilometre bushwalk through World Heritage area to reach this south coast beach.
Diving
Tasmania’s spectacular coastline and clear, cool-temperate waters are great for diving. The Far South offers kilometres of unspoiled coastlines and there are diving sites for both the beginners and more experienced divers. Explore the giant kelp forests of the Southern Ocean or search for handfish or the weedy sea-dragon.
Boating
The Far South is a haven for sailors with a huge variety of vessels taking to the water. Keel boats traverse the area and shelter in the beautiful bays of Dover and Southport, and Adults and children alike enjoy the safety of the sheltered bays in sailing dinghies and trailer sailers. Dover boasts the southern-most Sailing Club in Australia, and will always offer a warm welcome to visitors.

Fishing
There are many ways to catch your fill of fish in the Far South! Take your own boat out into the sheltered waterways, hop aboard a fishing charter such as “Go Fishing”, or throw a line in off the many jetties or beautiful beaches. Bait can be purchased at several outlets in Dover and Southport.
