Halcyon at Dover has a unique history in that it was the original Dover Parish Community
Hall. It hosted the then Governor of Tasmania and Anglican Bishop at a Ball in the 1930s. In
the 1990s it was converted to a residence and antique shop. It is now a charming residence
designed in an old-Queenslander style with a verandah all around to relax on and enjoy the
delightful rose garden and rural vista.
Two quaint yet spacious bedrooms are located upstairs with bed and sitting areas, each with
its own bathroom. Coffee/tea facilities are available as well as TV and WiFi and DVDs on
request.
A continental breakfast of toast, cereal, yoghurt, seasonal local fruit/berries and preserves is
included with the tariff. Guests are welcome to use the downstairs dining area or enjoy their
breakfast on the verandah. BBQ facilities are also available on the verandah, a relaxing
place to relax and sip a wine and enjoy the rural delightful scenery. Or wander around the
charming garden and smell the roses.
Halcyon is in the heart of the township of Dover within easy walking distance to local cafes.
grocery store, bottleshop, chemist and bank facilities. It is only a short 10 minute walk to the
pristine Dover beach at Port Esperance.
Dover is the gateway to the Far South including Hastings and Mystery Caves, Cockle Creek,
Ida Bay Railway, Southport as well as the Tahune Airwalk and various walking trails.
Halcyon is an idyllic, comfortable place to stay and come back to after touring adventures.
